Fire doors: A critical safeguard for building safety.
Under the Building Control Act B.E. 2522 (1979) and its amendments, it is required that high-rise buildings, extra-large buildings, and industrial facilities be equipped with standardized fire protection systems to ensure the safety of life and property.
The law also specifies the implementation of fire compartments, requiring buildings to be divided into sections to prevent the spread of fire and smoke to other areas. These separations—such as walls, doors, or fire curtains—must have a fire resistance rating of 1 to 4 hours, depending on the level of risk and the type of building.
A “fire-rated steel door (Fire Door)” is considered a critical line of defense and a standard safety component clearly required by law for escape routes and controlled areas. It is typically manufactured from high-quality galvanized steel, with an internal core filled with heat-resistant materials such as rock wool, which is non-combustible and provides excellent thermal insulation.
Today, fire doors are available in vario
• Fireproof Steel Door
Typically equipped with additional safety accessories, such as smoke seals for the frame, reinforcing bars, door handles/knobs, and panic bars.
• Fireproof Rolling Shutter Door
A door that opens and closes by rolling up into an overhead coil to save space. It is ideal for areas requiring fire containment, such as storage zones, chemical storage areas, and emergency exits. It is commonly integrated with other fire protection systems, such as fire alarms, allowing the door to operate automatically—opening or closing in response to a fire event.
• Fireproof Horizontal Steel Rolling Shutter
Designed to provide the highest level of safety for buildings, offices, and warehouses. Built for heavy-duty use, it is ideal for large areas or wide openings where overhead space is limited.
A “fire curtain” or “smoke curtain” is another fire protection system designed to control the spread of smoke within a building, enhancing safety during evacuation. It is made from high-quality fiberglass fabric and designed in compliance with international standards such as BS/EN standards. The system can be seamlessly integrated into the building structure. In the event of a fire, the curtain automatically deploys—descending into place through its connection with the fire alarm system.
Standardized fire protection equipment and systems not only help limit damage to confined areas and reduce property loss, but also provide valuable time for occupants to evacuate safely, minimizing the risk of casualties.
